In biological organisms many compounds work as energy providers ,also sone have valuable role in working of living system. These compounds are based up oxidation reduction reactions, in which they act as electron donating group too.

here the list of some of these compounds. and functioning listed after that.

  • Cytochrome f (Fe2+)
  • ferredoxin (Fe2+)
  • succinate
  • FADH2 (Flavin adenine dinucleotide)
  • ​​​​​ATP (Adenosine triphosphate)
  • NADH (Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide)
  • Chlorophyll

All these compounds provide the electrons in the biological process.

In photosynthesis electron absorbs energy and get excited in Chlorophyll from sunlight or light source. this excited electron transfered to Cytochrome b6f. By this energy is transferred in plants in this step.

Cell is building block of life. Most of cell s have mitochondria. At mitochondrial inner membrane electrons transferred from NADH to FADH2 which reduced oxygen to water in electron transport system.

ATP which are known as powerhouse of cell provides energy by redox reaction.
