IMPORTANTS OF NEEDS ASSESEMENT IN PLANNING A HEALTH PROMOTION PROGRAM

A community health​​​ assessment is also known as as a Community Health Need Asssessment(CHNA) which refers to a state,tribal,local or territorial health assessment. It is very important for a health promotion program are as following,

  1. Identification of health needs of the community

It means a good community needs assessment is very important to identify the actual problems and needs of the community.So that the health promotion team can meet their needs through the health promotion programs.

2. Improve public awareness

There are many health promotion programs for the piblic but the main problem is most of the peoples are not aware of that and they can't utilize it properly.So if they get an awareness about the same then the public participation can be improved.

3.Improve the professional health care

The health need assessment helps us to understant the needs and also helps to improve the health care by providing a good care for the patients based on their needs.

Role of stakeholders and community partners

The partners are who have a role in the response to a crises and stakeholders are persons or organizations who have a special connection or interest in our organization.Eg: employees,families,retirees,media,public etc.Both of them have an important role in health care organizations or programs, that includes

  • Enssuring high levels of executie management perfoemance
  • Ensuring quality patient care
  • Ensuring financial health of the organization
  • Formulating policies for a good health care
  • Performing oversight by monitoring decisions and actions to make sure they are in compliancewith policies.

Differences between primary and secondary data

PRIMARY DATA COLLECTION

  • Theses are the datas that is collected by the researcher directly from the main sources by providing questionares, interviews and surveys. Eg: A) can ask the community people regarding their needs to be met. B) By giving a multiple choice questionaire to the patient we can assess the knowlede of the person regarding the community healthcare organizations before delivering the awareness program.
  • It is a real time data.
  • Researchers are very involved in primary data
  • It is a crude form of a data
  • Primary data is always specific to researcher's need
  • It is more accurate and reliable

SECONDARY DATA

  • It is an already existing data

Eg: A) We can gather the information by visiting the public libraries

B) we can understand the needs of public from past records or library

  • It is quick and easy to collect.
  • It is a refined form of data.
  • Secondary data may or may not be specific to the researchers needs.
  • Compare with primary data, the secondary data is less acurata and reliable.
