Expert Solution

Document Imaging is an information technology part for Replicating the document which is commonly used in Business.

It is online storage, retrieval and management of electronic images of documents. This system replace large paper intensive operations. These scanned document are shared by all users on a network (cloud) and document routing are controlled by computer.

Document imaging is conversion of paper files or microfilm to digital image.

Characteristic of Digital Imaging:

1. Digital imaging allows reducing the cost of copy number, It increased productivity in the search and reduce the file space.
2. It is used for online storage, Retrieving online document through the web browser.
3. Scanning of documents;
4. Decentralization of physical space, mean documents and processes are always available, regardless of where and how the user accesses the application, access to these documents is done through a simple Web browser;
5. Formation of a backup that allows easy retrieval of documents if there is huge amount of files.

6.Indexing is also done to file for easy retrieval.

7. Now a days document come for uploading in bulk...so for these document we require huge amount of time, so with the this technique or software we can upload all document at a time efficiently.

some characteristics that micro-photography, microform, microfilm, and document imaging share in common:

Micro-photography involves taking photographs on very small film to produce small images that can only be viewed when magnified. In micro-photography, the photographer uses a special negative known as a microfilm to preserve the images.

microfilm is a photographic record used in micro-photography. documents are sometimes copied onto a sheet known as a microfiche which can reduce a document to its normal size.

all the formats can be converted to digital formats using specialized scanners. They are generally better indexed than their paper document. This reduces the cost per image to scan.
