What is the difference between marijuana, dronabinol, and WIN52212-12 in terms of THC content, potency, and DEA schedule?
Marijuana is a dangerous drug and smoking it causes memory loss and it reduces the IQ levels in students. This has high concentration of THC of about 40-80% and sometimes more than that. This is highly potent and by using this causes effects like anxiety, hallucinations, increase in heart rate and blood pressure and addiction. The drugs are classified into 5 schedules depending on thier toxicity and other factors. The DEA scheduled marijuana in schedule I as it has high potential for abuse and causes physical and pschological effects.
Dronabinol also called as Marinol has a THC content of about 25% and has a potency to stimulate appetite and helps to gain weight in HIV or AIDS patients. Since this drug has low potential for abuse the DEA has scheduled in schedule III which can be taken as a supplement.
WIN52212-2 is a cannabinoid drug which contain high THC as marijuana. The THC content will be above 40%. This shows effect on neurons and can cause damage. Since this has a high potential for abuse it is categorised in schedule I by the Drug Enforcement Administration DEA.
