Health inequities are defined by unfair and avoidable differences in people's health across social groups and between different population groups.example:protected characteristics, low socio - economic status
The best way to reduce health inequities are prevention, policies and intervention which directly adress the social and economic inequalities.examples are measures to improve the physical environment, introduction of higher standards to privately rended accommodation etc
Inequity wastes human capital and potential..For cost effective improvement we have to provide universal services but investing more where they are most needed.
Actions and policies that make it easier for everyone to adopt healthy behaviour like reducing availability or increasing price of unhealthy products like alcohol, cigrettes etc
Inequity leads to more stress, fear and insecurity for everyone. They can cause mental illness, low literacy rate among younger people, poorer child wellbeing and lower social mobility.
Therefore reducing inequity is very important to increase population well being.
