what features are located medial to the cranium and the mandible? Identify the category. How many individual items are included in this in this category
The skull consists of the cranial bones and the facial bones.
The cranium covers and protects the brain, while many of the different sensory organs are located in the facial bones which provide attachment to the facial muscles. The facial bones are located inferior to the cranium.
There are 14 facial bones all are paired except for the mandible and the vomer.
Facial bones:

2 (Paired) Lacrimal Bones: Smallest bone of the face, they form part of the orbit’s medial wall.
2 (Paired) Nasal Bones: two slender bones, located at the nose bridge.
