1. Glycolysis
2. The Intermediate Step
3. Krebs Cycle
4. Oxidative Phosphorylation
28. Which stage makes the most NADH and FADH2?
a. 1
b. 2
c. 3
d. 4
29. Which stage(s) uses NADH and FADH2 that was made in the other steps?
a. 1 only
b. 1 & 2
c. 1, 2, & 3
d. 4 only
e. 1, 2, 3, & 4
30. Which stage makes the most ATP?
a. 1
b. 2
c. 3
d. 4
31. Which stage(s) takes place in the mitochondria?
a. 1 only
b. 1 & 2
c. 1, 2, & 3
d. 4 only
e. 2, 3, & 4
32. Which stage(s) can happen without oxygen?
a. 1 only
b. 1 & 2
c. 1, 2, & 3
d. 4 only
e. 1, 2, 3, & 4
33. If glucose is broken down without oxygen (anaerobically), how many net ATP are made per glucose?
a. 2 ATP
b. 4 ATP
c. 24 ATP
d. 32 ATP
e. 36 ATP
28
C. 3)Kerb's cycle. In the citric acid cycle also known as kerb's cycle most of the NADH and FADH2 is produced. It is a series of reactions which produces two carbon dioxide molecules, one ATP, and reduced forms of NADH and FADH2.Two NADH is synthesized in glycolysis but both FADH2 and NADH is produced in kerb's cycle, which produces most of it.
29
d. 4 only. The NADH and FADH2 produced in kerb's cycle enters into the next stage, oxidative phosphorylation. Oxidation of NADH and FADH2 takes place here. Then phosphorylation occurs by producing ATP.
30
d. 4) oxidative phosphorylation. This stage makes most of the ATP per glucose molecule. 2 ATP in glycolysis and 2 ATP in kerb's cycle while 34 ATP is made in oxidative phosphorylation.
31
e.2,3 & 4 takes place in mitochondria. Glycolysis is taken place in cytoplasm.
32.
a. 1only.Glycolysis does not need oxygen. It is the breaking down of glucose to produce NADH and energy.
33.
a. 2 ATP. Without oxygen after glycolysis aerobic respiration cannot proceed. Hence only 2 ATP produced in the glycolysis will be the net ATP.
