An Eponym is a word derived from the name of a person, whether real or fictional. A name, such as drug, disease, operation, or anatomic structure, based on or derived from a person or a place.
Three Eponyms are listed below:
1.Aaron's sign - Charles Dettie Aaron
A referred pain or feeling of distress in region of heart or stomach upon continuous firm pressure over McBurney's point, in appendicitis.
2. Cabot's ring bodies - They are delicate threadlike inclusions in the red blood cells in the peripheral blood of some patients with severe/megaloblastic anaemia. They may appear as rings, figures-of-eight, or twisted. They are blue-staining. Their origin is unknown. Contrary to Cabot’s belief, these structures have nothing to do with the nucleus or the nucleus’ membrane.
