How are evolution, ecology, and biological diversity connected to each other?
Evolution is gradual process of adaptation to manage the environmental change through mutation and variation.
Ecology is the study of ecosystem. Ecosytem means all the living and non living things surronds us.
Biological diversity means variety of living forms. These life form have their unique role in ecosystem.
Diversity comes from evolution. To withstand in harsh environment organism evolves themselves and a new life form was created. Due to mutation , new characters in species evolve. These leads to a vast diversity of species.
Biological diversity enhances the productivity of an ecosystem. If there is only wheat available for an ecosystem the productivity of the ecosystem is low. If there is wheat, rice, barley, variety of fruits in an ecosystem then these indicates the higher productivity of an ecosystem.
Now evolution plays a major role here. At the begining of life in earth there are not so many diversified species. But with changing environment new species arived due to evolution which makes the biodiversity. Biodiversity then makes the production of an ecosystem higher amd sustain all the life forms.
If there is no evolution in our earth we maynot have been arived. Similarly a variety of animals , plants , microbes are arrived which make the diversity of species. These diversified species make different ecosystem such as aquatic and terrestrial.
So it can be cocluded that evolution brings the diversity among species and diversity provides a booster to ecosystem to sustain the life forms.
