Imagine that you work for a domestic oil refinery, and answer either question G11-1 or G11-2. You do not work for an oil producer, but rather for a refinery, which turns crude oil into many different petroleum products, from jet fuel to gasoline, which are then sold to world markets. You have the option of purchasing crude oil from U.S. sources or from various foreign countries. You must purchase crude oil in order to make products that you can sell in the United States or in other countries.
From a professional perspective, an effective, constructive, and suitable work environment is highly imperative to achieve and sustainably improve or enhance employee motivation and productivity in any business organization or company. Therefore, it is extremely important for any company or organizational management or administration is to ensure and maintain a positive and constructive work environment which can consistently motivate employees to work more productively and efficiently that can consequently contribute to the attainment of various organizational goals and missions. A positive and supportive work environment can be practically developed by various strategical means or techniques such as encouraging group or collective functioning among the employees, open sharing and communication of relevant professional skills, ideas, and knowledge among the employees, providing necessary breaks or recess to the employees, conducting various official and unofficial activities to strengthen team building and bonding among the employees, and so on. However, any company or organizational management must promptly and effectively address the issues, challenges, or problems which can possibly hinder the productivity and efficiency of the work environment especially considering the convenience, preferences, and difficulties of the individual employees and working professionals.
In this regard, based on a personal experience, one of the major problems or challenges faced by employees working in education or teaching industry sometimes includes prolonged work pressure during the operational hours which can significantly reduce the overall time required for personal intellectual enrichment and development which is an essential productive input or resource for educators or faculties teaching in any higher education institute. As experienced personally, long and continuous classes on various subjects without any significant intermediary breaks on almost all the working days can be evidently exhausting and debilitating and can minimize the time required for preparation of class materials and lectures. It can also substantially hinder the proper planning for class lectures and personal intellectual enrichment and knowledge enhancement which is almost indispensable for professional success and ascendancy particularly pertaining to education or teaching industry. Again, based on personal experience, conducting or taking classes on multiple for almost 8 hours continuously and 6 days a week by mostly standing and almost without sitting can be physically exhausting and extremely fatiguing in the first place. Furthermore, it can also reduce the productivity level of the employees or the teachers/faculties in this specific case mainly due to physical exhaustion as well as lack of sufficient class preparation time and personal time for intellectual enrichment and edification.
Therefore, from a personal context, it was a really inclement work environment and mechanism or procedure which basically did not encourage or support employee or educator productivity and development and the scope to improve work efficiency and productivity at the individual level. Additionally, knowledge sharing and idea communication among the coworkers or other faculties is also very much important for professional or occupational success and progress in the education industry and an increasingly higher teaching time can also deter such endeavors thereby affecting professional success and progress of individual teachers or faculties.
