1) Sacha’s mother has brought him to the doctor's office because he has been misbehaving at home and at school and never seems to listen to anything the adults say to him. His mother noticed that he does not respond when she calls his name, and he often seems to live in his own world. Now that he has entered kindergarten, his teacher also reports that Sacha does not seem to respond quickly and has limited vocabulary. How should the medical assistant respond?
2) Alicia, who is 62 years old, comes to the office for a routine eye examination. When you ask her when her last eye exam was, she tells you that she hasn’t had her vision checked in about 7 years, because the exams make her nervous. What should you tell Alicia to help her feel more comfortable and to help her understand the importance of her eye examination?
3) Tom brings his 6-year-old daughter Jane to the office. The physician diagnoses her with conjunctivitis and prescribes eye drops. How should you advise Tom to help Jane avoid spreading the disease to her siblings and classmates?
1.The child is showing the signs and symptoms of Autism. It is a serious developmental disorder that impairs the ability to communicate and interact.Autism spectrum disorder impacts the nervous system and affects the overall cognitive, emotional, social and physical health of the affected individual.
The behavioral symptoms of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) often appear early in development. Many children show symptoms of autism by 12 months to 18months of age or earlier.
The most effective treatments available today are applied behavioral analysis (ABA), occupational therapy, speech therapy, physical therapy, and pharmacological therapy.
2.The human visual system deteriorates throughout adult life. This is quite normal. The visual system is often characterized as "young" until it reaches about 40 years of age. After that, normal changes to the aging eye become more noticeable as visual capabilities decrease.
To maintain a lifetime of healthy vision, adults ages 18 to 60 should have a comprehensive eye tests at least every two years. Older adults (age 61 and older) should have annual eye test. "At risk" adults should have more frequent eye tests.
During an eye test, each eye is examined for signs of serious eye issues such as glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, and detached retinas, among other conditions. Receiving regular eye tests regardless of vision acuity can help detect serious eyeproblems at the earliest stage ─ when they are most treatable.
3.Conjunctivitis that's caused by a virus is generally contagious before symptoms appear and can remain so as long as the symptoms last.
