1) An IV solution of 270 mL at a drip rate of 30 gtt/min using a tubing factor of 15 gtt/mL has been ordered to be initiated at 0615. Calculate the infusion time. (Round your answer to the nearest tenth of an hour.)
= _________________
2) The order reads 530 mL over 22 hours. Calculate the infusion rate. (Round your answer to the nearest tenth.)
= _____________
ANSWER :
1) 270ml at drip rate 30gtt/min
Tubing factor = 15gtt/ml
15 gtt -----------> 1ml
30 gtt ------------>?
= 30 ÷ 15 = 2ml
So , infusion rate is 2ml/min
2ml ------------> 1min
270ml ---------> ?
= (270×1) ÷ 2 = 135 min = 2.25 hours
So, the infusion time is 2.25 hrs
2)Order 530 ml over 22hrs
22hrs = 22×60 = 1320 min
1320 min --------> 530ml
1min -------------> ??
= (530 × 1) ÷ 1320 = 0.4ml/min
So, the infusion rate is 0.4ml/min
