An IV at 60 gtt/min 500 ml of the fluid remain in the bag the gtt factor of the tubing is 60gtts/ml the current time is 2335 hr. what time will the infusion be completed

Solutions

Expert Solution

Given

Volume:500ml(remaining)

Flow rate :60gtt/min

Drop factor :60gtt/ml

Flow rate=Volume*Drop factor/Time *60

Let time be x

60=500*60/x*60

60=500/x(60 is divisible by another 60)

60*x=500

x=500/60

x=8.3

So the time take to transfuse the remaining fluid is 8hours and 30minutes

Start time :2335 or 11:35pm

Add 8hours 30minutes to this =0805 or the fluid will finish by 08:05am

Ans:The infusion will be completed at 08:05am
