Create columns as shown below: Name of Disease, Causative Agent(s), Virulence factors , Pathogenesis for the following skin diseases Erysipelas, and Cutaneous candidiasis.
Name of the Disease | Causattive Agent | Virulence factors | Pathogenesis |
Erysipelas - It is the skin condition (type of cellulitis) that is caused by bacterial infection. The superficial skin layers get affected (upper dermis and cutaneous lymphatics) | The causative bacteria is Streptococcus pyogenes (belonging to Group A of streptococcal bacteria) | The virulence factors of the bacteria are - hyaluronic acid capsule, lipoteichoic acid and M protein, pyrogenic toxinx (extracellular products), and streptolysins, streptodornase and streptokinase | The spread of infection occurs rapidly in upper dermis and it invades the superficial cutaneous lymphatics very rapidly. |
Cutaneous candidiasis - It is the infection of skin and nails. The infection is caused by fungus and prolonged exposure to moisture increases the risk of infection. | The causative agent is Candida fungus. The most common fungus that causes cutaneous candidiasis is Candida albicans. | The virulence factors include biomolecules such as adhesins that are host recognizing substances. Other virulence factors include the morphogenesis ability of the fungus, extracellularly secreted phospholipases and aspartyl proteases. | It is an opportunistic infection. Cutaneous candidiasis often affects oral cavity, gastrointestine, female reproductive tract and cutaneous epithelium. |
