  1. Describe at least 2 benefits and 2 drawbacks there might be for animal cells (including humans) to make their own food through photosynthesis.
  2. Explain which cells, tissues, or organs should be modified to lead to successful photosynthesis in animals or humans. Discuss how these compare to a plant's leaves.
  3. Describe the process of photosynthesis to explain at least 1 requirement for photosynthesis that would need to be considered for chloroplasts to function in an animal or a human.

TOPIC:1 I WILL DISCUSS

  • Pleants can do photosynthesis due to presence of Chloroplasts.
  • They make immense amount of energy due to higher surface area due to branching, leaves and flowers.
  • These chloroplasts contain chlorophyll which is the main molecule for photosynthesis.
  • Although, the animal or human cells are structurally different from plant cells and in energy requirements.

If animals or humans could perform photosynthesis in my opinion the benefits would be -

1. There would never be scarcity for food, as everybody could make their own food and feed directly on sunlight.

2. The skin would be green

Drwabacks -

1. Human need a lot of energy for mobility and all activities. It is impossible to generate that much energy by sunlight. Plants are stationary and they can survive with much less energy.

2. It woud lead to disruption of the food pyramid, ecosystem and all biological infrastructure that nature has imposed.
