Gloria is having an IV infusion. She is supposed to be finished in 2 hours at 150 ml/hour, and the infusion bag has 450 ml left. Is it infusing correctly? Show your work.

Solutions

Expert Solution

Answer

Time= 2 hrs (120 minutes)

150 mL/hr => 150÷60 = 2.5 mL /minute

Thus, required flow rate = volume to be infused÷ total infusion time in minutes

=> 450÷120 = 3.75 mL/minute

Since the infusion rate is lesser than the required flow rate, thus it isn't infusing right.

hope the answer helps.
