A space station is about to disintegrate. There is room for one person in an escape pod which will preserve that person’s life until a rescue vehicle can arrive. There are three persons left on the station: a 20 year old student (that is you), a 50 year old scientist and a young child. Who should be given the space in the escape pod, or should the three draw lots and decide randomly?
If emotionally am asked to judge who should get the chance in the escape pod, my answer would be between the young child and me as of course, I will try to save myself being a 21st-century evolutionary man who has to survive against all odds. I would also argue for the young child as he/she is very too young to die and hasn't even experienced life as such. The 50-year-old scientist has already spent midway of his life.
Again if we look through to the future then the scientist would be the best choice as he is already a scientist and would be in the best place to describe and research the details of the space mission and would be more useful for the space mission project and for future endeavors
But if morally and logically am asked then yes we are no one to decide and every human being has his/her right to live so it would be best to draw lots and decide randomly
so yes I would suggest a drawing of lots and decide randomly
