Expert Solution

1. Some of the important benefits of International space station are of the following:

  • Providing student's oppertunities to conduct their own science in space and to enhance their knowledge about science and space
  • Monitering the quality of water form space and can find our the areas where the availability of water is less ,such as in deserts , etc
  • The disasters such as volcanic eruption, wildfire, etc can be found out and can be monitered in the initial stage

Treatments like laser surgery to correct eye sight is a common practise, and many technology developed for use in space is now commonly used on Earth to track a patient's eye and precisely direct the laser scalpel.

2. Yes, there are many reasons to travel to Mars

  • Initially it is one of an amazing dream to travel to Mars. Many people have a great dream to travel to space and experience like what Neil Amstrond did.
  • As humans we can say that it is a great achievement to go and explore other planets. Many researches are going on in recycling, solar energy, food production , etc.

3. The direct benefits of space exploration includes the generation and improvement of scientific knowledge. The diffusion of innovation and creation of markets worldwide. The inspiration of people around the world, and agreements among the countries for the space research and discover new things.

The International Space Station uses the electrolysis of water to continuously replenish the oxygen in the station’s atmosphere (the hydrogen formed is vented). The station’s electricity is generated by the four arrays of solar modules, which produce a total of 120 kW. Essential heating/cooling, circulation and steering equipment requires 75 kW. If one of the four modules fails completely, this leaves 15 kW for O2 production, which is run at a 2 V potential. How many astronomers can survive on...

A space station is about to disintegrate. There is room for one person in an escape pod which will preserve that person’s life until a rescue vehicle can arrive. There are three persons left on the station: a 20 year old student (that is you), a 50 year old scientist and a young child. Who should be given the space in the escape pod, or should the three draw lots and decide randomly?
