Providing bed bath is an important care to the patient for maintaing the personal hygeine .It provides an opportunity to assess the patient body and a way to communicate with the patient thereby it enhance to understand the patient much better.

The main principles related to the bed bath are

• Keep the patient warm all times.
• Provide privacy to the patient.
• Expose the area only needed .
• Dispose all the dirty items immediately after the procedure.

Main steps involved in this procedure are

• Prepare the articles needed for the procedure.
• Close the window of the door and windows of the room to make a sense of hot.
• Check the temperature of water for bath.
• Place a towel under the patient body to keep the body dry.
• Make sure that patient free from fall risk.
• After providing bathing apply lotion.
• Remove all dirty linen and dump it.

It is very imperative to explain the procedure to the patient and provide adequate privacy to the patient..
