IgE Mediated Asthma
This is known as immunoglobulin E mediated asthma.This type of asthma is usually develping as a result of any allergen response in the body.The IgE antibodies are developed in body due to reaction to perfumes, chemicals, dust, pollens, mites, certain food items etc. This type of asthma has a strongest family history, and usually runs in families.The IgE mediated asthma is characterized by symptoms such wheezing due to narrowing of the trachea,chest tightness, increasesd respiratory rate, cough etc.The diagnosis is mainly based on clinical symptoms. Allergy testing and detection of IgE antibodies in blood is used to diagnose this condition.Tretement is mainly by preventing and controlling the allergens, use of broncho dilators to prevent broncial spasm and by managing other clinical manifestations such as itching nose, eyes etc.The tretement usually based on suppliments of anti IgE medications. These drugs will reduce the IgE Antibodies in the body and subsequently reduces the symptoms of asthma.
Non-IgE Mediated Asthma
This is the type of asthma is developed in the absence of IgE antibodies. Also known non atopic asthma.This type of asthma is not related to any allergic reactions. Most commonly seen among pediatric age group. The symptoms usually developed following any upper respiratory tract infections. The disease is characterized by symptoms such as wheezing, coughing, incresed respiratory rate, and increased hyper responsiveness of the tracheal bronchial tree.Here cause may be due to inflammation of the respiratory tract. Hence the identification of the cause is important. The management of etiology will helps to reduce the symptoms of this type of asthma. This type of asthma is usually treated with broncho dilators, corticosteroids etc.Severe symptoms can leads to respiratory distress among childrens and adults.
