Discuss the roles of federal, state, and local public health agencies in the development of standards for informatics in healthcare.
#. Health information technology (HIT) was created to help healthcareproviders make informed decisions by providing immediate access to patient’s information and the latest advances in medical knowledge. The federal agencies provide grants for the acquisition of HIT to rural and small health careproviders, federal loans to states to support state loans for regional organizations encouraging interoperability, and grants to medical schools and academic medical centers to encourage training of health professionals in the use of HIT.
States typically coordinate with local health agencies in developing plans related to informatics and often rely on local agencies to implement response activities. Population-based health promotion or disease prevention activity based on informatics is implemented.
Local health departments play a central role in providing essential public health services in communities through e -health and encourages the use of tele health .
