ANTIGEN
- Antigen are molecules which is
responsible to produce immune respone in the body.
- It produces antibodies in our body
if any immune response occurs.
- Antigen are proteins, nucleic
acids, lipids or may be polysaccharides.
- They are found within the body or
externally.
- The binding site of an antigen is
an epitope, which is a specified space in which
the antibody fits.
ANTIBODY
- Antibodies are protein molecules
which recognize and binds to that specific antigen.
- They are found within the
body.
- The binding site of an antibody is
a paratope, which is a specific space in which the
antigen binds.
IMMUNITY
- Immunity is the ability of our body
to resist against harmful micro-organisms which is responsible for
developing many diseases.
- When an antigen comes and binds
with an antibody then an immune response occur within the body
thereby preventing the occurrence of disease.
- There are natural as well as
artificial immunity.
- Natural immunity gets by birth
itself and it is the immunity within the person which helps to
resist against many diseases.
- Artificial immunity gets when an
external substance is introduced into the body. For eg. BCG vaccine
gjves life long immunity against tuberculosis.
Note: Antigen and antibody reaction
plays a vital role in protecting our body against many diseases by
producing immune response and thereby maintaining the immunity of
our body.
