Discuss three different ways that poverty leads to poor health in three separate paragraphs (1 paragraph for each way health is impacted by poverty).
Close with a fourth paragraph describing how you think your medical facility should handle situations where parents cannot afford the needed medications for their ill children and how your facility can generally be more effective to the less fortunate in your community.
Poverty is a global issue. A large portion of world population does not earn enough to support themselves and their family. They fail to earn basic needs such as food, shelter and clothes.
Poverty affects the health to a great extend. Poverty is one of the major barrier to good health.
Some of the ways in which poverty affects health are :
Malnutrition is one of the important factor that affects health. Poor people cannot afford a well balanced healthy diet which results in malnutrition. Malnutrition in turn results in weak immunity that leads to various diseases.
Poor health practices is the another factor resulting in poor health. Poor people are not well aware and educated about heath practices. Also they cannot afford resources to follow good hygienic practices. Poor sanitation, housing and contaminated drinking water results in poor health.
Poor people often cannot afford the expensive healthcare services due to insufficient money. This results in limitation to access the health care and poor health.
To bridge the gap between poor people and healthcare facilities, healthcare organizations can reduce the healthcare costs for poor people. The facility can establish funds to help children who cannot afford medical services such as medications. The facility can help the poor people by treating all the patients equally, providing policies to cover the service expenses for poor and educate people with health practices to prevent diseases.
