Discussion A: Describe the concept of electric charge like you would explain it to an 8 year old. What is it and why is an important concept?
Discussion B: Think about your current field of study (Biology major) and future employment (Field observation). Where do you expect that you will interact with an electric field? What will this interaction be like?
Discussion c: Electromagnetic waves are ubiquitous in our world. Think about your prospective career field. What is a unique way that you will interact with electromagnetic waves in this field?
Please answer with a full paragraph or more, thank you!
Discussion A: Describe the concept of electric charge like you would explain it to an 8 year old. What is it and why is an important concept?
Electric charge is the physical property of matter that causes it to experience a force when placed in an electromagnetic field.
Electric charge is carried by subatomic particles. In ordinary matter, negative charge is carried by electrons, and positive charge is carried by the protons in the nuclei of atoms.
This concept is important because electric charge forms the basis of the electrical and magnetic forces that are important in our modern electrical and electronic devices and applications of engineering.
Discussion B: Think about your current field of study (Biology major) and future employment (Field observation). Where do you expect that you will interact with an electric field? What will this interaction be like?
I shall interact with an electric field in applications such as membrane potentials, ion flow through protein channels, action potentials in the nervous system. This interaction will be like an application of electric field in biological natural applications.
Discussion c: Electromagnetic waves are ubiquitous in our world. Think about your prospective career field. What is a unique way that you will interact with electromagnetic waves in this field?
I shall interact with an electromagnetic waves in therapeutic applications such as soft tissue healing appliances, hyperthermia for cancer treatment, or diathermy exposure of the patient well above the recommended limit values to achieve the intended biological effects.
