8. When fossil fuel is burned, many different types of carbon-based molecules can be emitted. Of all carbon-based emissions, carbon dioxide is the best-case scenario given what will occur to the other carbon-based emissions. Explain why you agree or disagree with the previous statement and the consequence of this fact. (SHORT ESSAY)
Carbon dioxide (CO2) makes up the vast majority of greenhouse gas emissions from the sector, but smaller amounts of methane (CH4) and nitrous oxide are also emitted. These gases are released during the combustion of fossil fuels, such as coal, oil, and natural gas to produce electricity.
Pollution caused by fossil fuels
Acid Rain: Acid rain refers to precipitation that carries sulfur and nitrogen compounds from the atmosphere to the ground.
Climate change
Combustion release carbon dioxide to the atmosphere
Combustion is the burning of a fuels and oxidation to produce heat and work.
Ch4+2O2 àCO2+2H2O
Release of CO2 alerts the global cycle. It is a green house gas.
