What are the types of synapses that occur within the autonomic division? What is the name of the synapse that occurs in neurons of the autonomic division and their targets? Please explain how you got the answer. Thanks.
The autonomic nervous system is divided into parasympathetic and sympathetic system. These two systems are opposite in their physiological functions. The synapse is the junction between two neuronse . The autonomic nervous system consist of pregaglionic fibers and post ganglionic fibers. The pre ganglionic fibers in sympathetic symstemare called symapthetic preganglionic neurons. And sympathetic post synaptic ganglion.
The types of synapses in ANS are
Sympathetic preganglionic synapse and sympathetic postganglionic synapses. These are paravertebral Ganglia.
Parasympathetic preganglionic synapses and parasympathetic postganglionic fibers. These are called Terminal gangliaG
The synapses that occurs in the autonomic nervous system called Ganglia.
The junction between neuron and muscle is also type of gangliaG called neuromuscular junction.
