Howard gardener came with with the idea that there are not one but several kinds of intelligence.
1. Logical–mathematical: Arithmetic, calculations
2. Linguistic: Verbal and written language
3. Spatial: Visualization, navigation
4. Musical: Identifying rhythms, sounds
5. Bodily-kinesthetic: Body movements coordination
6. Interpersonal: Understanding and relating to others
7. Intrapersonal: Understanding ones own self
8. Nature: Connection and understanding nature
Howard gardener had devised this theory in response to other theories which were of the view that there was one form of intelligence. Gardener thought that a person can be intelligent in various ways, and thus developed this theory. Howard gardener had proposed that these 8 types of intelligence are independent of each other, but later research has shown that there is correlation between the different types of intelligence.
People can be smart in many different ways, and intelligence test often limits the intelligence to just a few aspects. People can be very good at planning and saying right things at the right things at the right time and making best of opportunities. People may be excellent at a particular skill such as swimming or playing chess, but it may not be measured on the intelligence test.
The intelligence which fits be best is musical intelligence. I am easily able to identify the rhythm, pitch, tempo of music. This has helped me to master 3 musical instruments in a short period of time. After learning one musical instrument, it was very easy to learn the other two, as i already could identify the different musical notes learned earlier.
