First of all it is imortant to understand that harassment of anyone by any mean in any context is a crime, whether done in a workplace or any other place. Additionally, any kind of harassment in a workplace is intolerable. Any employer in the United States is a subject to federal anti-discrimination laws which obliges them to create a safer workplace for their employees where there is no scope of intimidation, insult or discrimination based on race, ethinicity, color, religion, gender, or nationality.
All the work place harassment should be strictly treated in the same way without any anticipation. It makes a huge impact on someone's self-respect and can result in long time mental instability. So irrespective of the place where it happened it makes the same impact on the victim's mental, physical and social status. Hence, necessary steps should be taken on the basis of the state's anti-discrimination laws failing to which one can sometimes be sued in a state court.
