In every couple's life together there are times when the couple experiences sexual problems. These can occur for a myriad of reasons, at times as a result of illness or because there is a natural occurrence in one partner's life (such as lowered desire after a woman gives birth). Often it's just a case of patience and understanding, but sometimes people can get worryingly out of step sexually, and this can threaten the whole relationship. Communication can begin to breakdown, and problems escalate.

When a couple is in a relationship then there are certain factors which bind them together. The level of intimacy, passion and commitment determines how much the relating partners are in love with each other. There are times when a person in a relationship does not find the other person to be having an intimate emotional bond with him/her, in such a scenario the two relating partners may be experiencing an emotional disconnect which may lead to sexual problems among them. There are times when conflicts occur between a couple. Then also the couple may experience problems related to their sex lives. At times, in arrange marriages, the partners may not find each other attractive this may also be one of the causes of sexual problems. There are times when there is a conflict. For example, if the partners are fighting for most of their time together there will be little opportunity for sexual interaction, and they may end up fighting also about the lack of sex in the relationship.

There are individual specific expectations and factors that also decide the type ands quality of sexual interactions the partners will have. If the relating partners want to have an intimate sexual relationship, then they should be honest, clear and tactful in their conversations with each other.

The best way to deal and overcome sexual problems is through increasing and opening the channels of communication between the partners. Other ways could be by spending more time together and strengthening the bond between the two, sharing of responsibilities with each other and accepting the mood state of the partner.
