A Randomized Controlled Double Blind Experiment on a particular study of interest
Research question: Is the new drug more effective in curing a disease as compared to standard drug
Step 1: Randomly select sample of size n for the population of persons suffering from the disease
Step 2: Allocate randomly each participant to either of the 2 groups. Group 1: Control Group and Group 2: Experimental Group
Step 3: The allocation will be carried out by an independent statistician. Neither the exprimenter nor the participant will know which group each participant is allotted so that the experiment becomes double blind.
Step 4: Group 1: Control Group will be given standard drug which will look same as new drug
Step 5: Group 2 Experimental Group will be given new drug which will look same as standard drug
Step 6: At the end of the experiment, the data will be consolidated by the independent statistician as follows:
Number of persons recovered in Group 1: Control Group
Number of persons recovered in Group 2: Experimental Group
Step 7: Conduct 2 Independent Samples t test to find out whether the Group 2: Experimental Group has significantly more recoveries as compared to Group 1: Control Group
Step 8: Randomization of participants to either of the 2 groups makes the sample proper representative of population, controlling any confounding variables. Randomization ensures both groups in the study as similar as possible and reduce any bias or lurking variales that can influence the outcome of the tudy.
