Design an experiment that uses a Winogradsky Column to study microbes. (State the specific type of microbe or property of the microbe you want to study and how you would alter what was done in the column you observed to design your Winogradsky Column.) Please don't copy-paste somebody's answer. Thank you.

Question:

Answer: Wingradsky column is used to screen and study a diversity of microbes. Growth of one microbes is depend upon growth of other microbes. In column cellulose help in growth of bacteria and formation of fraction, where bottom is without oxygen and upper layer is oxygenated.

i. In this coloum's bottom layer, anaerobic microbes which performs fermantation of cellulose and produce products. e.g. Clostridium.

ii. In next upper layer, anaerobic sulphur degradating microbes, which use sulphur produced during fermentation and grow. E.g. purple and green sulphur degrading microbes (desulphovibrio). They performed photosynthesis.

iii. In next upper layer, anaerobic non-sulphur reducing bacteria will grow by using product produced by previous microbes and cellulose. e.g. rhodospirillum, rhodopseudomonas.

iv. Next upper layer, where oxygen is present and aerobic sheathed photosynthetic and chemosynthetic microbes will grow here. e.g. cyanobacteria.
