Socialization occurs throughout our life, but some of the most important socialization occurs in childhood. Four of the most influential agents of socialization during that phase of our lives are the family, school, peers, mass media, neighborhood, religion, sports and workplace. Family is usually considered to be the most important agent of socialization.

Some agents has conflicts with each other.because

  • parents socialize children depend in part on the parents’ social class and on their child’s biological sex.
  • Schools socialize children by teaching them both the formal curriculum and a hidden curriculum.
  • Peers are an important source of emotional support and companionship, but peer pressure can induce individuals to behave in ways they might ordinarily regard as wrong.
  • The mass media are another important agent of socialization, and scholars debate the effect the media have on violence in society.

Parents and peer group conflict each other which offering alternative goals, values, and styles of behaviour and some agents go with each other as family and school because family socializes school on parents interest as family has control over childern up to a certain age where to go for schooling, what age child isnalloeis to access mass media, to posses religion and sports.

Some go in a line and some repel as depend on the behavior of the individual and how socialization going on.
