Urban areas in the developed countries, host adequate and specialized infrastructure that can support, commutation, transportation and all the amenities that is required by the population. Here, the population is characterized by service class with higher and middle income group. There is a relatively less migration of people from rural areas to urban areas in the developed countries. In contrast to it, urban areas in developing countries getting the increased level of higher population density with working class constituting the major population. There is a relatively less developed infrastructure in the urban areas of the developing countries due to the faster speed of the population growth in these areas. Further, there is a lack of adequate aminities per person in terms of health care, education in developing countries, in comparison to the urban areas of the developed countries. Besides, there is a superior urban planning in the urban areas of the developed countries, whereas developing countries still place unplanned growth, partly due to the migration of people from rural areas.
There are economic and social factors, responsible for these differences. The economic factors involved is the job opportunities, income inequality, lack of facilities in the rural areas and setting up factories in the urban areas. A developing country, has higher job opportunities in urban areas, and lack it in rural areas, higher income of people in the urban areas, have created a drive among people to reach out to these areas and search jobs, causing excessive pressure upon these cities. But in developed countries, opportunities are present all the areas optimally, so people don't migrate like in developing countries.
Social factors involve lifestyle, cultural preferences and state of living along with the healthcare available to the people. these benefits are available in urban areas so people like to reside in cities in developing countries. But, in developed countries, these benefits and preferences are also present in rural areas. So, people also like to live in rural areas if they has their residence. It brings the difference between these two type of countries.
