What is the level of health that we could reasonably be able to achieve? How could we achieve this? What inputs would be necessary to reach this level and at what cost?
Introduction
Health is a very important economic consideration for every country across the globe. Having a healthy population would mean a large section of the society would be more productive towards the economy which would then grow better and would find itself at a better position than other counterparts.
Countries across the globe pay large attention to social issues such as malnutrition, pre mature deaths, drug overdose, accidental deaths etc. to analyze the key reasons why people die prior to the average age of the nation.
The average age serves as a guide to analyze the rate of healthy population in a country and all developed and developing countries are trying their level best to increase the same to sufficient numbers. Over the years Asian countries which were once thought to be at the middle of all controversies involving underage kids dying and social issues such as death of female children have slowly and gradually progressed and find themselves at a better position respectively. Also the government’s role on policies such as insurance and expenditure on healthcare has increased the overall health levels across the globe respectively.
Case Specifics:-
What is the level of health that we could reasonably be able to achieve?
The level of health which we can reasonably achieve, is that cases of malnutrition, early deaths due to medical complications, accidental deaths and those due to an unhealthy life style can be eliminated to a certain degree. Further with spending on programs such as insurance and health care awareness, people can be encouraged to undertake activities that aim at increasing their overall levels of fitness.
Thus, reasonably we would be able to eliminate those cases which can be avoided and are present primarily due to social and government related reasons respectively.
How could we achieve this? What inputs would be necessary to reach this level and at what cost?
This level of equilibrium in the country and beyond, can be achieved by active spending of the government to look after cases of malnutrition and to increase the availability of resources and healthcare to the poorest of the poor in a country.
Many people die because they do not get proper attention and healthcare availability is extremely poor. Primarily in the villages and small towns this happens. The government therefore must efficiently increase its spending on pro healthcare related activities so that those communities which are untouched by modern science can also be given its fruits thus increasing their overall life expectancy.
Further, inputs would come in the form of insurance covers, food security and other health care related expenditures. Also proactive expenditures need to be undertaken to make people more aware of health related issues and this can help in increase of the level of health in an economy and lead it to be more productive.
