It is indeed high time that we abolish beauty norms. Beauty norms exist for all the genders with relation to the complexion of the skin, body-weight, and the overall appearance. They negatively effect the self-esteem of a lot of individuals who find it hard to deal with these difficult societal expectations. That is one of the primary reasons why we need to abolish these beauty norms so that we get rid of the associated mental problems that such expectations cause.

There are some feasible ways of doing so that have been discussed as follows. We need to solve this problem just by the same manner with which it began, that is, societal conditioning. We need to condition the society in such a manner that these expectations no longer remain relevant in society. It is a long but much-needed process.
