Solutions

Expert Solution

Proteins are very essential for the bulding up of cellular structures that carryout vital functions.Basic building blocks of proteins is aminoacids.Protein digestion takes place in the stomach.protein digestion begins with the action of an enzyme ,which is a protein digesting enzyme called pepsin.when pepsin acts on the large protein molecules ,it breaks the peptide bonds.Peptide bonds are the bonds that hold the protein molecule together.Polypeptides will be formed when these bonds are broken.Polypeptides are chains of amnoacids that link together.Once the polypeptides are formed it moves on to the small intestine .These polypeptides will breakdown with the help of pancreatic enzymes present in the smalll intestine .The pancreatic enzymes present in the small intestine are trypsin, chymotrypsin, and carboxypeptidase.through the pancreatic duct the enzymes enter the duodenum. Here the brush border enzymes help the pancreatic enzymes.Brush border enzymes are fonund on the microvilli of small intestine. This enzyme splits one aminoacids at a time.
