Euthansia: The painless killing of a patient suffering from an incurable and painful disease. Administering a lethal drug at the patients request to end life. Also,of all deaths few doctors had taken medical decisions concerning the end of life that may have shortened the patients life.
Few years back there has been increasing attention paid tp medical decisions at the end of life, and euthanasia or also called as medically assisted death, has been the subject of much moral, religious, phyilosophical, legal and human rights all over the world.
Even a few doctors also admit th having practised euthansia. As well as patient factors, there are a number of other considerations that relate to the medical practioners themselves such as sex, age, religious and personal beliefs.
It is still true to say, that most of the doctors refuse euthansia. Several factors may explain this. Firstly, death is viewed as a failure of medical practice. Secondly, various surveys suggests that doctors would prefer to keep the management of death within the professional practice to allow them the flexibility to respond to the complex realities of differing clinical situations.
The opposition of euthanasia for doctors may also related to their - self image, How society accepts this, Doctors see themselves as a beginners of life, hope and healing, but not as a destroyers. More importantly, the legislation of euthansia also raises the prospect of a complex moral dilemma for those doctors who may oppposed to it on religious or ethical grounds.
The broader community is unease about the legislation of euthanasia is related to the conderns of some religious and ethnic groups that, besides voilating the ultimate human value, the sanctity of life.
Society ultimately ha sto resolve the issu by balancing two central human values : sanctity of life and human dignity.
