There are different leadership theories . The major leadership theories are Great man theories,Trait theories,Contingency theories,Situational theories,Behavioral theories,Participative theories,Management theories,Relationship theories. Of these I think the Situational theories is the most appropriate for my organization.
Situational theories points to the fact that ,based on the situation ,the leaders choose the course of action best suited for the organization. For different types of decision making, different style of leadership may be required.As for eg an authoratarian style of leadership will work better if the leader is the most educated , experienced and knowledgeable person in the organization. Again a Democratic style may be needed if the members of the organization are all skilled and experienced experts.Thus situational theory of leadership points to those leaders who adopt different leadership styles according to the situation as well as the team members development level.
It is most effective for my organization,because it is adaptive in nature and it adapts well to the requirement of the team membersThus it helps in setting a balance which is helpful for the organization in general.
A valuable lesson is learned from the situational theory.It teaches us that leaders should not be static and try to adapt to the circumstances and to the people with whom we live and work .This attitude will help the leaders to be succesful in all aspects of life.
