A major revision task involves assessing the clarity of your message. A clear message is one that is easily understood. Describe three techniques that can improve the clarity of your writing. Include an example of each technique. (Learning Objective 2)
The three techniques that can improve the clarity of writing are:
1. Strong words and high Introduction: The subject topic and the introduction of your writing should be strong through “High Note Introduction” which elaborates the direction and subject of writing. For example “High growth financial results”, which shows that company has performed well during the year and its financials are addressed in the Note.
2) Sound formatting with active-voice descriptions: The formatting of the writing should be well divided in paragraphs mentioning a topic of the subject. The paragraphs should not be long enough to be boring. You should use active-voice descriptions of event instead of passive-voice. The passive-voice description weakens the matter put forward. For example, you must put “The Chairman spoke about the company’s growth” instead of “The Company’s growth was spoken by the Chairman”.
3) Continuation and Focus on Subject Matter: The subject matter is continued with concentration on various topics and ideas. The focus point in a paragraph should include only one topic or idea. There should be a rhythm in the writing the subject, otherwise the reader got disturbed. For Example, different paragraphs should be used for topics like turnover growth, reduction in expenses, market share, distribution of dividends, and others.
If any writing is based on above techniques, it will get connected with the readers and describes the subject matter in a better way.
