The ICD-10 CM and ICD-10 PCS coding manual is maintained and updated by the NCHS (National Center for Health Statistics) of the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) and CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) to use in the US. ICD-10 CM is based on ICD-10 formulated by the WHO (World Health Organization) and is used internationally. A representative of the NCHS and a representative from the CMS share this responsibility of the ICD-10 updating and maintaining this through Coordination and Maintenance Committee meetings.
