ELDERLY CARE: A person who aged 65 and above is considered to be elderly people and the care provided by health and allied health professionals to this group of people.
Innovation is something that creates new resources, processes or values or improves a firm existing resources, processes or values. Like that, innovation in elderly care denotes introduction of new ideas, methods and actions inorder to improve a) the health of the population b) satisfaction of both patient and care providers, c) clinical outcomes and d)the cost of care.
INNOVATIONS IN TECHNOLOGY: A new technology to monitor patient's activity of daily living through logs and video-monitorings, remote health monitors , bed alerts, heat and smoke alarms and electronic sensors highlights the advancement in quality patient care and also reduce the medication errors within the health care of elderly people. 2. These new technologies also helps to improve the health coordination and patient -centered care in elderly people. 3. Incase of labour shortage, introduction of robots through technology can be used to monitor the patient activities, remind them and for performing scientific repeatitive time consuming nursing tasks.
