Tell me a short PERSONAL story you've experienced or heard about that has to do with sleep apnea.
Nowadays due to the poor lifestyle, people are suffering from many sleep disorder, out of which sleep apnea is most common. Sleep apnea can be explained as a serious sleep disorder in which breathing stops and starts repeatedly. the main types of sleep apnea are:-
1) Obstructive sleep apnea, this is caused due to relaxation of throat muscles.
2) Central sleep apnea is attributed to improper signals sent by brain to the muscles that control breathing.
3) Complex sleep apnea occurs when a person has both obstructive sleep apnea and central sleep apnea.
My father who is 52 years old suffers from sleep apnea, at the early stage we couldn't find about the problem, but slowly the symptoms started to appear.
The symptoms were:
1) loud snoring was common at the early stage.
2) Periodic breathing cessation during sleep.
3) A headache was common and was accompained by attention problems.
These symptoms started to become worse day by day,so we went to the doctor. At first, the doctor said it is a normal condition with the aged people. But few months later we found that things were not going well.We consulted another doctor and he observed things very carefully and then finally told us that my father is suffering from obstructive sleep apnea. His heartbeat was not normal, and he was always irritated with all the surroundings. He didn't like to talk to us or any person. The doctor prescribed hydrochlorothiazide, a diuretic.
After taking these medications along with the proper lifestyle that is eating the right food and by changing working time, it has been observed that the symptom was decreasing. Then doctor recommends losing weight and CPAP ( continuous positive airway pressure ) therapy. It has been more than a year and he is doing good.
