Answer : Recent dates food waste becomes a huge concern for economics. The reasons of food waste are following :

(i) Consumer's inappropriate planning : One of the most important reasons of food waste is consumer's inappropriate planning. Often consumer buy lots of foods without planning when they get offer on foods. Because consumers knew that they will consume the whole purchased foods but they do not know at what time it will be consumed. As a result, after sometimes when the foods expires then the foods become waste.

(ii) Rejection of imperfect foods : During industrial processing of foods when foods does not meet the foods standard quality then foods are waste. This situation occur due to imperfection in foods. Like overcooking, packaging defect, wrong size and wrong weights etc.

(iii) Lack of food management : The another most important reason of food waste is lack of food management. After production if foods are not well managed then foods become waste. For example; problems in storage and cooling when the weather condition is adverse. As a result, due to adverse weather foods become waste.

(iv) Food service industries' over prepared foods : Food service industries prepare lots of foods at a time to supply more foods at minimum cost. But when the demand for those foods is less than the supply then the food service industries face the situation of excess food. As a result, the food become waste.

(v) Consumer behavior : Many consumers buy only unblemished vegetables and fruits. As a result, little blemished vegetables and fruits become more waste than before situation after some times. Ultimately after little more sometimes those vegetables and fruits become totally waste. Thus, food waste situation occur.
