But avoid irreverent babble, for it will lead people into more and more ungodliness.”
2 Timothy 2:16
Please discuss as this quote pertains to discussing your research (current or future) with professionals and fellow peers.
An irreverent babble refers to continous murmuring sound of talk that is irreverent and is confused. Paul refers to the discussions on subjects which are useless and without redeeming qualities. For example: there are countless discussion that takes place in our day to day activities, offices, neighbourhood, social media and phone calls. But only few is productive and rest is meaningless with no healthy outcome. Paul is asking to avoid such conversations as the it may lead to more ungodliness. It leads us away from God and fills our hearts and mind with thoughts that is displeasing to God and can poison our hearts. This irreverent babble can be dangerous often and can hurt the faith of others.
When the concept comes regarding the discussing the research outcome with professionals and fellow peers, it also seems identical to irreverent babble. Research is something which should be discussed when approved or its results have be generated or else its just a babble that is meaningless. The hypothesis should be proven and adequate evidence is needed to spread the news about one's research. If we make discussions in advance and the hypothsesis is not proven then it seems to be a false testimony. The result will be subjected to unwanted explainations and a reason for distrust by the people. The facts will loose its validity and would be considered to be unreal. So its better avoid irreverent babble about the research with your professional and fellow peers.
