Many people tend avoid the use sucralose when possible. Why might it be concerning that an artificial sugar look so much like the natural sugar? (Consider: hydrolysis is just simply the reverse reaction that is used to store glucose within glycogen)
Sucralose is a zero calorie artificial sweetener.Sucralose is not sugar but it made from the process begins with regular table sugar.The process includes,thre selected hydrogen oxygen group on a sucrose is replaced with three chlorine atoms,that resulting in a no-calorie sweetener,sucralose.It is 600 times more sweeter than sugar. The structure of sucralose prevents enzymes in the digestive tract from breaking it down.Of the consumed sucralose,a small amount is absorbed and it is not broken down for energy and therefore it doesnot provide any calories.All the absorbed sucralose is excreted through urine.
Splenda is the most common sucralose-based product.Sucralose is used in beverages and foods and due to its high stability in high temperature,it is also used in baked foods.
Artificial sweeteners are synthetic sugar substitutes,but they may be derived from naturally occurring substances. Artificial sweeteners are known as intense sweeteners because they are many times sweeter than sugar.
Artificial sweeteners add no calories to your diet. Also,you need only a fraction of artificial sweetener compared with the amount of sugar you normally use for sweetness.
