Privacy and confidentiality are the two critical issues for people with HIV/AIDS. Confidentiality is considered as very valuable because it reflects the autonomy and control over personal information and free patients from the burden of stigma and discrimination. Confidentiality concerns an individual's right to protection of data during storage, transfer, and use. So, it is the duty of the professionals to maintain the confidentiality of HIV/AIDS affected patients.

Among all the conditions that health care professionals have to deal with, confidentiality is one of the most important one since it guarantees the privacy of technical and personal information. Since the HIV/AIDS affected patients were kept aloof from the society by the people and since it implied social discrimination confidentiality was introduced in the health care settings.

The process of confidentiality has provided patients with better care and more support from the health care professionals. It provided the patients not to be embarrassed in front of others and in turn, it made the health workers motivate them to have positive thinking in their life rather thinking and wasting about their diseases.

Since this diseases can be caused through various routes and if the patient is innocent then it ca lead to depression, stress, frustration, etc. So, this can negatively affect the health of the patient. So, through confidentiality maintenance, the patient gave assurance that nothing is revealed about him/ her to the public and they will receive the best possible care.
