How are the costs associated with the implementation of the Affortable care act impacting the hospitals which provide tertiary care services such as transplant?
The ACA is advancing, but as it rolls out, it is still difficult to sort through the many provisions affeting patients, insurance companies, hospitals and providers to determine what will have the most impact on health care worker.
Much of the ACA activity focuses onn the Centres for Medicare and Medicaid Services(CMS). A 10% bonus payment pllan for physicians serving medicare patients with certain conditions and general surgeons has gone into effect along with a rule reimbursing certified nurse midwives at the same level as physicians.
At the same time, there are growing concers about current state efforts to cut medicaid budgets and the viability of relying heavily on medicaid as the basis for insurance expansion.
Beacuse states an no longer cut Medicaid enrollment, some cut service packages, affecting hospitals which provide tertiary care service like transplant.
The main important issue over here is to get costs down without compromising quality, so there will be huge pressure on tertiary sector to maintain quality service as there are issues related to bundling payments.
