The Affordable Care Act provides Americans with better health security by putting in place comprehensive health insurance reforms that will expand coverage, hold insurance companies accountable, lower health care costs, guarantee more choice and enhance the quality of care for all Americans
The Affordable Care Act actually refers to two separate pieces of legislation - the patient protection and Affordable Care Act and Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act, together expand medical coverage to millions of low income Americans and makes numerous improvements to both medicaid and Children's Health insurance programme.
1. ACA gives qualified hospitals the opportunity to determine presumptive eligibility for certain medicaid eligible populations. This will enable hospitals to temporarily enroll individuals in medicaid, ensuring compensation for hospital based services, while providing patients access to medical care and a pathway to longer term medical coverage.
2. 2.Exapand health insurance coverage through the affordable Care act is having a major impact on many of the nation's hospitals through increases in the demand for care, increased patient revenues, and lower uncompensted care costs for uninsured.
