Self -concept in nursing provide a foundational knowledge of care concepts that enable those are in this proffession to explain what they do for patients and the reasons for their actions.That help the nurses articulates evidence that justifies the methodologies behind the proffessional practice and also influences our thinking,feelings,and act in every organizational life.

Self -concept is important in this profession because it influences the persons attention,interpretation and decision making,their ability to cope with stress, social relation,moral decision making.

Three important nursing concepts are the person that means the recipient of care,health that is the goal of nursing,and environment that is the setting where nursing care takes place.So that nurses self cocepts helps them define who they think they are and how they fit into the profession.That in itself makes self-concept is important because every one wants to know themselves .
