Explain the concept of linearity. Why is important this concept in engineering. Explain.
ANSWER:
Given that
Concept Of Linearity:
Linearity is mathematical relation between two varaible quantities (they may be of the same unit),which are directly proportional to eachother.A linear circuit is an electronic circuit which obeys the superposition principle. Informally, a linear circuit is one in which the electronic components' values (such as resistance, capacitance, inductance, gain, etc.) do not change with the level of voltage or current in the circuit.
Graphically it represents a straight line when plotted against eachother.
Importance of Linearity in engineering:
Linear regression simply does what it says on the label, and makes no assumption that the relationship is really linear – that's not its job. It is the researcher who needs to be sure that it makes sense to model the relationship as linear.
Linear regression is an analysis that assesses whether one or more predictor variables explain the dependent (criterion) variable. The regression has five key assumptions:
Linear relationship
Multivariate normality
No or little multicollinearity
No auto-correlation
Homoscedasticity
